Otero County Aircraft Crash

We are getting MAC-9 over here in Grand Junciton today and it sounds as if there is a light aircarft down in Otero County with 1 fatality. The crash site seems to be accessed only by snowmobile or snowcat.

Correct SW of Rocky Ford was paged last night and CAP found it this am.

And it was actually 2 fatals per CAP members onscene Chris.

The aircraft was just identified as N8231D which they said was the "missing aircraft".

The FAA database says this is a Piper PA-34 registered to Russel J. Mayer of Monument, CO.

Anyone know if this A/C was on a CAP mission in that area?

No it was not just a private flight, but CAP activated and found the crash site.
