Not sure if this is a Tech question. I’m getting the over limit error on my 325p2, but I have plenty of memory left. I erased one of my sites, but it hasn’t made a difference. Appreciate any help, thanks.

Is the file itself smaller than 1 MB? Or is the profile file that you saved slightly over 1 MB possibly? It sounds like you know what you're doing and you've already checked the file size but I'm not 100% sure that's what you meant when you said you're within the limit.

I can't remember for sure right now whether it's the profile itself that can only be up to 1 MB or if it's each quick key / favorites list in your radio? I think it's the specific favorites list within your programming that can only be up to 1 MB. Maybe someone else can clear that up a little bit?

The 325P2 doesn't use profiles or favorite lists. All there is , is a single programming file.

I suspect there is duplicate programming in the scanner.

I’m getting the over limit error on my 325p2,

I'd clear the programming and re-upload your file to the scanner.

Look at the number of TGs programmed in the System. That is usually (but not always) the issue.

How many of what do you have in your programming? (Systems, Sites, frequencies, TGs, etc.)

Yeah, there are what is called "Absolute Limits" no more than X Systems, Y Groups, Z Channels, etc. These can be found in the manual and vary by scanner type (the non-SD card kind of scanners).

So if you try to put 21 Groups in where there is a 20 Group Limit, you'll get the error message. Sort of like a truck that has a 1 ton capacity, but you can only carry 10 gallons of water. Clearly under the total capacity, but over the limit for a specific item.

It will only hold a certain amount of channels or groups/sites per system, that's where the limit is

I only have 19 groups in this system, and only 21 talkgroups in the group I tried to put it in. I have 12 systems on the scanner, some have a lot more talkgroups than others. It wont let me add anything else. Memory Used: 7%, System 12: 2%, Site 14: 1%, CHN 2524: 10%.

How many TGs are there in those 19 groups? With 2500+ channels, it looks like there may be many.

The owner’s manual (page 41) says you can only have one trunking system per “SYSTEM” in the 325. Do you already have a trunk system defined in that “system“ that you are trying to add a new trunk system to?

What software are you using?

The XT and P2 scanners are limited to 500 talkgroups.
Below is copied from Mark's manual.

" You can store up to 500 systems, up to 20 groups per system, and up to 1000 frequencies or 500 IDs per group. "

The overall memory capacity on the 325P2 is 25,000, with 500 TGIDs as YoShep has noted.

If the OP can respond with which software he's using & getting that error message, I suspect this can easily be resolved, He's mentioned both FreeSCAN & ProScan. Based on what the OP has indicated he was trying to load, and the memory used being 7%, I suspect this is a software issue, not a scanner issue.

I would almost put money on the bet he is hitting the 500 TG per System limit since he has 2500 channels programmed.

If he used ProScan to import a system and attempts to exceed the limits, ProScan will refuse to import, clearing all the check boxes.

If he used FreeScan and was to check on the System name at the very top, then look at the right pane a red error message appears if the TGID limit is exceeded. That message doesn't stand out too well and can be missed. If too many sites are selected, FreeScan refuses to import more than allowed. It also alerts when the number of groups is exceeded.

A statewide trunked system can easily exceed the various limits of the scanner.

Without verifying exactly what the OP was trying to load (an actual count), we're guessing for now. However, I will point out that if he was using FreeSCAN to load the file, there are several scenarios where FreeSCAN will give a false "over the limit" message, even though what is being loaded is well under the system maximums for a given model
