What happens when you run it from the wall wart? Do you have audio? But any time there is a heat issue like you describe its time to go in for repair.

I can't plug it into the wall without battery,
when I put the battery charge already it says that my batteries are discharged and I connect it and it does the same.

And for the sound there is nothing just a little background noise

Ok then. It’s time to call Uniden repair. They charge a flat rate of $80 to repair and an additional $10 for shipping it back to you.

Isay something is going on or something that happened you did not mention. You sure you are using AA nimh or nicad, and not lithium batts. Lithium batts are more voltage which will give you the "llegal voltage" warning.

I don't know why you would use a 1300 mah battery. Every Energizer rechargeable I use is 2300 mah. Check your USB power supply for excessive voltage output. It should be about 5vdc. It is very possible that you have a bad battery. That can cause overheating. The standard change time for rechargeable batteries is 14 hours. If you charge a 1300 mah battery for that time, you are overcharging it.

Energizer Ultimate Lithium is a AA size battery that is acceptable to use in the handheld scanners that call for AA batteries. I’ve been using them when I attend airshows due to their extended life (not to mention reduced weight). Yes, a lithium ion battery has a higher voltage per cell so the energizer bunny must be doing something to throttle back the voltage... either it not a “true” Lithium ion or it’s got some sort of dropping resistor built in? Don’t k ow for sure. But the answer to that is just a google away.

You said you installed a new battery. The 436 uses 3 batteries. Are the other batteries rechargeable? If not, that could cause the overheating.

Ummm...last I heard is lion batts are higher voltage...someone please correct me if I am wrong but that is one of your first mistakes. Is it that difficult for you to buy regular mimh batteries that you have to resort to lion batts? That is a BIG NO-NO

Tvengr- this isn't directed to you. N1chu- bud you are gonna fry your radio. Just because it is same size don't mean its gonna work. Those batts are higher voltage than reg batts and higher than nimh,/nicad batts.

"The nominal voltage of lithium-ion is 3.60V/cell. Some cell manufacturers mark their Li-ion as 3.70V/cell or higher. "

-The Energizer L91BP-8 Ultimate Lithium AA is listed as 1.5 VDC, this battery should be OK to use. Don't know if it is a true Lithium ion though.

Have you tried a different ac adapter, maybe it is not working and the batteries are dead. Or have you tried recharging the batteries in a charger?

Try putting three alkaline batteries in it and DO NOT plug the wall adapter in it. That will tell you if you have a battery problem or a radio problem.

yes i try normal no rechargeable batteries without plugging it in and the radio does not open,
I put my batteries in the external charger and it does the same

So the problem comes from the battery that it would not be strong enough to know it?

What kind of battery should I take?
