BYERS – Authorities have shut down westbound I-70 after two semi-trucks crashed overnight, killing one person.
Colorado State Patrol says the crash happened at about 2:15 a.m. when a semi hauling floor products rear-ended a semi hauling meat.
Authorities say the semi hauling floor products burst into flames upon impact, killing the driver. His identity was not immediately released.
The driver of the semi hauling meat was not injured, according to troopers.
I-70 has been shut down between Deer Trail and Byers. Authorities say they may need to bring in additional equipment to remove the charred debris.
It was unknown how long the interstate will be shut down.
