Hello All,

I was at the Urbanna Oyster Festival last weekend and noticed the heavy police presence was represented by about 5 surrounding counties in addition to Middlesex County. I didn't have my scanner or else I wouldn't be asking this question: Do they likely all communicate on the SIRS 39.540 frequency? Or would Middlesex provide all of the officers with rented radios from their command post with Middlesex County freqs so everyone is on the same channel?

Last time I forget my scanner on such a target-rich environment.

By the way, the Oysters were dee-licious !

I would think that if a portable radio was the solution, it wouldnt be 39.54 - low band walkies and antennas are bulky and expensive too. Likely common channels they already have or loaner radios from the local dept. I don't know for sure, but I know a F/Sgt who has a place there on the lake and I can ask him if he knows.

There were 13+ LE agency's at the Oyster Festival. Everyone brought their own radios, all except VSP were patched on three frequency's. VSP operated on CH-8 Wythville (conventional repeater from their STARS Trailer).
