• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Have the potential for a guy to sell me a P7200 radio for pretty cheap in a lot of goodies. I am tempted to take up his offer but wondering what im getting myself into. I realize i have to have RPM to even talk to the radio but what determines the feature set in the radio? Do they all come with P25/EDACS and of course conventional and if not, how is it added? Different flash or...

Also, do the P7100 accessories work with that line, and what about programming cable?

Any help would be appreciated!

P7100 and P7200 are the same form factor, so most of the accessories will work as-is. The deluxe charger (the one with the control head) won't work, but programming leads, keyloaders, etc are fine.

Features are the same as P7100 - so the answer is "It depends" - although very very few have ever been sold that weren't P25 or EDACS capable, and I *think* they all come with ProVoice as standard.

Best thing to do is get the list of features from the seller and compare with the sticky list here - the feature numbers are the same.

Thanks for the input. How can one tell if the flash is set up for EDACS/P25? And if it doesnt have one or the other how do i get it?? I imagine a call to Harris is in order...

Oh another question, can i just call them and see if the serial number is stolen? Or do they not give that out?

Thanks again!

P7200 radios will all do EDACS, P25 (trunked and conventional) and Opensky - but you need two things as well as the hardware. You need ECP code (for EDACS, conventional and P25) and OTP code for Opensky, and you also need the feature bits set right.

Best thing to do is to get the serial number and the feature data string from the seller and talk to TAC about the radio - they can tell you what features are turned on, and how much it'll cost to turn on the other ones that you want. I think they can also tell you if it is stolen.

You might do better sending an E-mail rather than a phone call, at least with the feature data.
