Hi all I wanted to create a master thread and to start I have a semi update to Lexington county radio situation. The Lexington county combined dispatch center is still severely understaffed and at times only having 4 dispatchers/call takers on a shift. You will commonly hear the dispatcher say “standby I’m on a 911” or “standby I’m on a call”. All 3 of the municipal law dispatch talk groups are almost always patched. Units who have a chase or active call will ask the dispatcher to unpatch but he/she says they can’t. For fire/ems they are dispatched on their dispatch talk group then are switched to an ops talk group. LCPS OPS 1 is used for medical calls, LCPS OPS 2 is used for mvc’s (motor vehicle collision) and some fire calls and LCPS OPS 6 is used for almost all fire calls. Fire/ems used to be dispatched and have their response be on dispatch as well and only assigned an ops channel if the call needed it but due to the dispatcher shortage they off load most traffic to a couple ops talkgroups and the same is done on the law side. Also all Lexington county law enforcement agencies will be encrypting over the next few years. Currently the Lexington county sheriffs office is fully encrypted and cayce of is in the process of encrypting now. West Columbia and the remaining law talkgroups will be encrypted. Wouldn’t be surprised if Columbia pd joins the party and then all Columbia area law will be fully secure.

@brian can you pin this to the top of the form to create a palmetto 800 master threat like NC has for their viper system

I'm not a forum moderator and can't manage threads, I'm just a lowly database administrator. You'll have to click "Report" and ask it to be pinned.

Any timetable as to when this one might come online? Looking forward to this addition. It will make my home listening much easier.

I passed through Cherokee County several times over the last few days and can confirm this site is not online. I have no information when I might come online.

Someone has discovered site 2-77 as a neighbor to the Greenwood site using control channel 853.3125. This is likely the Calhoun Falls sited. Need someone to monitor it directly to verify that it's on the air.

Does anyone know what the use of Lexington county talkgroup 24591 is? In all of my agencies radio it is named “FLT SVC 1” but saw a recent update that changed it to fire training.

Yes. From what I have heard from the county it has been re-purposed from fleet services to LCFS training.

A heads up to everyone in the Columbia area. Columbia police are currently redesigning their regions across the city along with the new headquarters being built downtown. They also said they will buy other buildings for the new region offices in the new regions. Look out for new talkgroups and current talkgroup changes.

I have been running UNITRUNKER on the new (ish) Chester county simulcast and have notice that it is not only TDMA capable but possibly already being TDMA, attached is a screenshot of the properties tab of the site in unitrunker, I want to get a second opinion before submitting changes if there is any. Thanks.

Are you seeing any TGs using TDMA? That is usually the definitive answer on whether a system is marked Phase II in RadioReference. There are many systems that are Phase II capable but do not employ any Phase II talkgroups. Widespread TDMA usage is still a few years off for Pal8 but it is already available and tested in limited cases.
