Palmetto 800

before our vacation to Surfside Beach, I want to program the Palmetto 800 system into my 396T. what's the best recommended way to do so?

I'm wanting to put in the counties I will be in as well as pass through while driving there on I95 to RT501.

of course, I'll program the Horry County system as well.

Mike , can help you out with HORRY for sure. Counties from VA to SC I don't have made , did include a "generic" VIPER (NCSHP)...take some time but you might go to the VIPER in the NC database and consider making systems for Viper for each county you pass through. WAKE COUNTY will BOOM with activity.

The Pal 800 files I have include all statewide services also besides the HP.

I was going to tackle NC last. I have VA covered. I wanted to have Horry since we'd be there for about a week.


EDIT: I just imported the MEM files and started looking at them...you save me a few days work thanks again.

I just got back from SC. I have relatives in Surfside Beach. I programmed the cc channels for Georgetown and N Myrtle Beach Sites, as well at Horry County in the Pro-96. I had a blast with them. The one thing that surprised me was that the dogcatchers are on the same dispatch as the Horry Co. Sheriff's Office. Have a safe trip.

It's funny you mention that - I heard that conversation myself , that was actually a Deputy you heard. The "animal control" was not available. :lol:

I did have to do another system for the Highway Patrol. I put all the CCs into a system and copied all the SCHP groups from the posted files into it. seemed to work well. I heard them all the way into NC on the return trip. thanks for all the help.

Im trying to learn a little about how to program using ARC250......so I downloaded mikes files to see how he did his......and it says file is not compatable with this version... does some other software save as a ".mem file"......and also ...any free software known to open mem files and xls files(excel) Thanks in advance

Narcotics - sometimes they use the DET and sometimes the NARC.

SCHP , yes I think I might have just sent the Horry (NMB) and Conway sites - my fault ......but glad the TGID's came in handy....

Did I send you the NV Viper for that route too? Wondering how that was on the way ??

Hey Bubba here's where you might get a quick answer on that.....if I had time I'd write you a little on file conversions - but it would take me DAYS,,,seriously , that's a whole different ballgame - go here:

Bubba ....... "mem" is simply the extension Butel uses for all his Uniden scanner software. Each of the programs is only compatible with the particular scanner - or, in your case, 4 scanners - the program was written for.

ARC250 does have an option - under "Files" - for importing from a clipboard or comma-separated file.

The mem files used with the Uniden dynamic memory scanners are simply text files, so you could import them to Excel, than copy to ARC250.

Keep in mind, though, that there still is alot of work to do, since the file structures are very different. Personally, I would find it just as easy to create my own ARC250 files from ScanDaBands' files.
