PC wont see 996T

I cant seem to get the UASD software to see my 996T. I have tried usb and com 1 on two computers. All attempts give scanner not connected. One pc gives a model not supported error when trying to read from scanner. Another pc gives cheack settings on scanner. Serial port settings seem ok.

I did run the usb driver from uniden

Am I missing something?

Are you able to use the port on any other programs? Are you sure of the port number? USB can use any com number. Try com 3 or 5. Make sure if you use a palm plot that any hotsync programs are shut down.

You can check the port number in the WInXP, Sart/control panel/Performance and Maintenance/System Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/Ports (Com&LPT).

com ports test ok.

It will never assign to COM 1. Normally it will assign to COM 7 or higher. As Dave advised, check in Device Manager to see which COM port was assigned to the adapter. Or, just try every option that appears in the UASD setup (it will only show ports that exist on your PC).
