If I am reading correctly, Pennsylvania State Police is encrypted, so I will not hear anything on those frequencies/talk groups? Also, is West Virginia and Virginia State Police the same? If so on any of them, I will eliminate them from my scanner to save space. Thanks.

Your best bet is to check the RR database and look at the talkgroups. If in the mode column you see E the talkgroup is full-time encryption, if you see e it is sometimes encrypted.

Yes, this is old news. No more transparency in PA. More and more local police are going full E too. When my county goes live with P25…eventually, all PD in Monroe Co will be full E.

Thank you all again. I apologize for it being "old news" or the request of an additional dollar for the question coming up again. I have been a scanner person for years, but am new to the computer programming of them. Couldn't figure out why RR would allow the frequencies to be added/loaded/programmed if they were encrypted. Thought there may be a loophole doing it this way.

When is Allegheny going trunked?
They have licensing for a P25 phase 2 system over the City of Pittsburgh right now and according to there extension letter they Have started to deploy the system but needed more time because of “supply chain” issues

The county also recently purchased radios for all agencies in AC and they all have TDMA, OTAR, and AES.

My guess is the city will move within a few years and each zone (North, South, and East) will follow as the system is built.

The county hasn’t been very open about there plan but in the few public meetings out there I get the feeling that they want the whole county trunked sooner rather than later.

RR is just a database for informational purposes or we'd be get an alternative question of what frequencies are PSP on and can I hear them with my BC-125AT. The database shows that it's encrypted.
