Hello Everyone,

Anyone lucky enough to get a PSR-500 over the holidays? I am curious to know what the performance is like on our MPSCS system - possibly compared to the 396 or 996? I know this question has been posted before - any updates?

I can't compare it to the 396 or 996, as I don't have any experience with either of them.

What I can say is the PSR-500 and the PSR-600 do an excelent job of decoding the MPSCS. They do a decent job of decoding the Detroit and Macomb simulcast sites from outside the intended footprint of those systems as well (I'm just outside of both of those systems)

Slightly better than Pro96 and 396, but still suffering same problems with CQPSK.

Once I turned the global attenuation off, the PSR500 did a better job receiving Detroit than my Pro-96. Overall I'm very pleased with the radio. The only thing I need to get more familiar with is Win500.

I am looking at the same thing, getting a 500 to replace my Pro 96 and have waited to see if I would have ay problems. right now I really only have an issue that sometimes it does not decode the signal. going back to V1.2 from v1.4 has helped. Just waited a little to see if feature Firmwares would fix any issues before selling my Pro and getting my new 500

I heard there was a problem with the scanner not stopping the encryption noise from coming though. Is that true or has it been fixed in the new firmware.
Also is it like the BCD396T that after the encryption sound. it starts the time delay then keeps scanning.
The scanner should block the noise and stay on that channel as long as they keep talking then go to what ever delay you set and the 396 does not do that. Does the new GRE 500 do this(as long as the blocking of the encryption sounds is fixed)
