Please help

I have a Uniden BCD996T and I have found the discriminator tap but there is a problem.. I dont know how to tap it..Let me explain.. I am using a stereo cord with the 3.5mm jack at one end to put it into my mic on my laptop. This stereo wire has 3 little wirers inside of it..1 is black 1 is yellow and 1 is white.. What do I do with them? Do I connect all 3 to the tap point or do I use 1 for a ground and the other 2 to the tap? Or do I just use 1 wire? I dont know but I would like to use Unitrunker to decord my signals. I am new to this hobbie been at it fpr about 1 year now and I really enjoy it..I read all you guys post and I would like to do the things that you guys do.. I am just lost and would like someone to teach me how to do this..I am sure I will have unitrucker questions but first I have to get it hooked up...Any help would be great...

As far as the plug, you only need two of the three wires. You'll have to use an Ohm meter to find the two you need. You need the ground lug, and the tip.
