Triple M Investing

Omaha NE 68114

This has Lite 101.9 FM on this tower. On the outer perimeter fence it just has a sign that says Triple M Investing and the ASR number (1031904). It's been about four months since I was last at this site, but last I knew that is all I had for this site. The tower has like 3-4 white stobes at night towards the top and that's it, the base is pretty much unlit.

Althought I did find this site that may be of help, http://www.cellreception.com/towers/details.php?id=1031904

Howdy, everyone!

Just a point of clarification regarding the information on the Eagle, NE tower.

"Triple M Investments" is the former Mitchell Broadcasting who used to own Lite 101.9, among other stations, before they sold out to Waitt Media. John Mitchell, Mary Mitchell, and one other, whose name escapes me at the moment.

101.9 is now on one of the two towers at Gretna, bringing their signal closer to Omaha. This move allowed 107.7 to cease being a downtown Omaha translator for 101.9 and to become "Hot 107-7 and 97.3".

QUIZ: What station had the 101.9 frequency BEFORE it was "stolen" away from it's original city of license? And, what was the original city of license?

As far as I know, this Eagle tower has NO active broadcast facilities, although I am not sure about business and/or amateur radio facilities.

I read in the Norfolk Daily News tonight in Royal, NE that the are getting a new Comm CTR , & RACOM is bulding the system. They say it will be VHF system. Will my PRO-92 scanner will work on that type of system.
Thanks Rob.

Of which it's still hard to pull those stations in... wish 93.3 had a translator too at times. This is a good clue to see if the band is up for some good scanning.

If memory serves me right I believe it use to be a country format or it was before I moved here.

I'm going to venture to say Lincoln?

It would appear as if someone is currently on the tower. There are a few antennas on there but could just be empty for now. This also appeared to be an analog cell site. For where it's at and on a decent hill I'm surprised not more people have tried to use this facility since it's so close to both Omaha and Lincoln.

*rubs magic crystal ball*

Oooooohhhhhhhhhhhh

Yes...
yes...

It would appear as if it says, "March 6, 2007 at 2:17pm".

They always start up new VHF systems on idle Tuesdays. Much like how new CDs, DVDs, etc come out on Tuesdays.

Oh ok... well maybe not. Who knows? This is why you have a scanner, to scan! =) You are going to just have to keep reading the news papers, watching your local TV programs, and of course pay attention to here. Only time will tell and when they decide to launch it, I'm sure you'll be one of the first to know.

Look at the cruisers to see if they change antennas or add any. Look at their base station areas (hospitals, fire dept, police dept, sheriff's office, etc). See if any of those antennas are changed or they add any. Watch for RACOM trucks in the area. All of their vehicles have personalized plates with RACOM XX (xx being a number) on them. The chase for new info is half of what makes this fun.

If memory serves me right when I used to live in Norfolk, 101.9 was KFMQ-FM in Lincoln.

AHHHH!! Ding, ding, ding!

We have a winner!

You're right Elephant101! Indeed, the 101.9 Eagle tower was home originally to Q-102, a FANTASTIC Rock station whose City of License was, indeed, Lincoln! The Eagle tower had a very impressive signal into Lincoln, as well as Omaha, with the exception of areas nearing the Muddy Mo'.

Later, 101.9 assumed the call letters of KYNN (formerly on 590/94.1) and became a country station. After that format change flopped, it became 101.9 "The Edge", which was an Alternative format. Next, as the "format wheel" continued to spin, 101.9 became "101.9 The Fox", which played a good blend of Classic Rock.

Today, of course, 101.9 is "Lite Rock 101.9 KLTQ", playing lite favorites.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but I thought some history would be good, since it relates to the discussion!
