I have paid for all of the extras however the sound on my Uniden BCD325P2 is not audible. I cannot understand anything that they are saying and I have been in law enforcement for 40 years.

It would help us assist you tremendously if you specified what exactly you are trying to listen to.

If I were you I'd sell that BCD325P2 and pick up an SDS100 as these scanners are designed to handle simulcast systems

i am the cheap guy here.
like a paperclip for an antenna cheap (if it works)
i started with the 396T then the 396XT and now the 325P2. if that sounds familiar to you.
the next one, and soon, will be an SDS100 as my county is on 700 and simulcast.
every other word is missing during a transmission.
the wife is OK as she likes to listen too.
so it will be a common Christmas gift for us.
and you can always use more radios !

The BCD325P2 isn’t all that great where volume is concerned either. I wear mine on my belt and can’t hear it half the time. I should use the external speaker jack and a lapel speaker or headphones. But you seem to be suffering from simulcast. Check out RR WiKi Simulcast solutions for your radio. In addition to the paper clip antenna other remedies are listed that may help such as “Avoid”ing all sites other than one site, usually the one closest to you… if that doesn’t work try the next closest site and so on. I’ve been told these remedies aren’t all that effective but given budget constraints, where an SDS100/200 are out of the question, at least it’s something. (My take on these remedies are they could work for a particular location where moving your scanner a few feet to find that sweet spot will help. But I see that only as a help for those using the scanner as a base unit, where it sits in one spot all the time at home or work. But the minute you decide to go for a walk with it you loose your sweet spot, which defeats the portability concept of the radio.

Are you using programming software?
Yes
I purchased the following:
1 of : Firmware upgrade (Mail-in)
1 of : HomeTown Programming - Advanced
1 of : Uniden Bearcat DMR Upgrade (BCD325P2/996P2/436HP/536HP)
1 of : Uniden Bearcat ProVoice Upgrade (BCD325P2/BCD996P2/BCD436HP/536HP)

I did all this upgrade and programming at a total cost of $277.53.

Since I got the radio back, I have not been able to understand any of the transmissions

The next thing I would try is to see how well the scanner receives NOAA Weather.

1.) Have the scanner scanning anything (doesn't matter what).
2.) Push the HOLD button
3.) Then enter the NOAA Frequency for Cookville (it looks like 162.400 is correct frequency) - push the 1 key, then the 6 key, then the 2 key, then the dot key, then the 4 key, then push HOLD again.
4.) You should hear the weather forecast loud and clear. If it is garbled, then you definitely have a scanner problem.
5.) To get back to scanning, just push the SCAN button.

By programming software, I mean ARC-XT, ProScan, or FreeSCAN. FreeSCAN does not support DMR or NXDN.

Who did you purchase that from? What software are you using at home to program the radio?

Here in Illinois on the 700 MHz trunk system both my 325p2 sound excellent, if you go into the menu and adjust the radio to manual settings it really makes a difference, and use the increased volume setting with volume of 10 in most cases it's loud
