• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I would think so too, but who knows? The website in my post above gives the menu items you need to change to open the radio up, assuming the hardware mod was actually completed. I would try that.
I will check that out, I'll have to have someone read it for me, as I'm Blind, and I found mode A and the frequency today using an iPhone app that I use to have someone help read things that I have no access to. I'm hoping also to find someone who is willing to type out the layout of the buttons, since the manual is usless to Blind folks.

Hey, I'm hoping someone would watch this youtube and type out the steps, because I can't tell what he is doing, other than entering 12345 as a password.
Thanks.

He hits the MENU button (top button of the two directly to the left of the channel knob) seven times and then enters 12345 and the radio restarts itself in CB mode.

I've tried to have a non-techie person try this for me and it didn't work. Does anyone know where I can get a programming cable for this radio? I read a few places on-line that the Anytone 5555 cable works for the PL II+, so I ordered one, but it does not fit. I'm hoping I can set this up from the software. I cannot seem to find cables for this radio on-line.
The place that sold me the radio does not carry them.
Thanks.

I think they may be pulling the cover, and inserting the cable directly into the board to bypass the tiny usb connector on the back. I think it's actually a serial connection and the special cable has a usb/serial converter built in.

Common complaint on AM monitoring with the Lincoln II+ v3 seems to be that the squelch doesn't work right. On auto-squelch, the signal gets choppy, so one has to use manual mode constantly between 0 and 1, even with solid signals. I wonder if this is connected to the low volume issue.

He holds the menu button steady, like normal to activate it, and he cycles through the menu items, cbPLJd (cb password).
