I heard they are going to be testing the new system soon. They have installed new antennas at the county complex. Not sure about encryption of not.

I have confirmed and submitted TGID 216 as Fire/EMS Dispatch, still waiting to hear for sure the School Buses are on TGID 401, Also be mindful of what voice frequencies they use.

I'm new to Digital Scanning and need help.

I've used analogue scanners for many years but never owned or tried programming digital. Since PG is now going digital along with everybody else in the Tri-City/Metro-Richmond area (and VA State Police) I'm looking to purchase a scanner capable of receiving digital police and fire. I do understand that some agencies are encrypting their radio traffic which I'm assuming makes it all but impossible to listen to the encrypted radio traffic.

During my browsing this website in the past I think I saw computer downloads for jurisdictions which I assume can be saved on the computer and then uploaded into a capable scanner. Therefore, my three primary questions;

1. Any recommendations for a decent digital scanner that's not too costly?
2. Is my above statement regarding program downloads on this website accurate, can the info be uploaded into a scanner by jurisdiction?
3. Has there been a download created for Prince George County, VA (police and fire)?

I appoligize If this post should be in another forum, if so please let me know.

Thank you.

First off, PG Police aren't yet on the system as they are just starting to check the coverage, FD Dispatching, Radio tech, and school buses are all that are active as of now. Your best bet is to get an SDS100 due to simulcast use around the state

They are going encrypted except for dispatch channel from what I have heard. 700 system is going live in a couple weeks for PG.

I hope this is just a misunderstanding for going digital
.
I wish it was but they issued the FD new radios this week and when they were practicing with them thats what the L3Harris guy said over the phone. I know it's not the best picture but notice the little key in the Upper part of the display on the ops channel.
