When programing my Pro 106 for my local p25 TSYS using RR download via Psredit500 is it necesary for me to program all site channels or just CC and Alts (note: from what I can tell the database for my system shows no alts). Also will I miss transmissions by just using CC and alts or does scanner track that?

What county are you in?

Just program in the control channel and the alternate. Some agencies rotate through switch back and forth between their main control channel and alternates. Everything else should come into play. If your area has no alternate then you should be fine. Just put in the control channel only and program your talkgroups you want. You might miss conventional frequencies if they are not part of the P25 but you can program those in no problem at all.:)

I program my Pro 106 by hand. Yes they are difficult if you don't know but it only took me a couple of days. You become more familiar with it. Yes it does take longer but I'm a hands on guy.

During coms use F2 TSYS then F3 Analyze--MAN then navigate with 5 way to TSYS will accomplish same result. Check each frequency for decode rate using ▼. A low rate will cause the problem. If a rate exist, that tower is active but if you ar out of range from any tower you wont get a rate. Scanner only uses CC/AltCC.
Also, this note is in database:
The Simulcast portion of this system will have sites located at:

1. Blue Mountain
2. Chambers Hill
3. Middletown
4. Reservoir Park
5. Reesers Summit
6. Strawberry Square

For Simulcast you might need to point a Yagi to the tower to reduce interference from other towers.

Adding to my above. Only one CC/ACC is active per Site.

Only one CC/ACC is active per tower in simulcast system. They likely microwave between towers which causes a slight delay during coms--thus your problem.

Thanks for all the input. It is truly appreciated. I am receiving alot of simulcast distortion though making alot of TXs unreadable. From the list posted above I pretty much live smack in the middle of the simulcast locations so that is more then likely my problem. I tried progamming the system without the simulcast site freqs but then recieved no control channel data so I assume that means I am out of range of any of the other towers? Any other suggestions on how to alleviate some of this simulcast interference?

Multipath distortion caused by simulcast is a very difficult problem to solve. It affects my GRE and my Uniden scanners. I have multiple antennas and none of them are a definite cure. The yagi helps sometimes but not always.

Ok once again thanks for the help. As I said in earlier post I have tried to program the system without simulcast site in another scanlist and hear nothing and note no reception of control channel data, while the simulcast included scanlist has audio and shows reception of control channel data. Am I correct in assuming that this means I am not in range of another tower?

An average range is about 20 to 24 miles or so for a tower. You can always check what towers are closest to you by going on google and put your address where you live and the address of location of the tower and see what towers are closest to you.

Better yet, in database click on site name (Simulcast) then on Site Licenses (WQGX586). This will display all 6 towers on a map with gobs of data. One can click on any tear drop (tower) and do a proximity search which will provide Lat/Long.
