Just got my 106 and seem to be stuck on basics.

Programmed a bunch of conventional freqs. and an EDACS system. They were entered in the default SL, #1.

I then decided to break down entries by towns/counties, so I enabled the system on SL #3 and disabled it on #1.

While tagging my TGs, I must have hit some wrong keys, so the system came back to SL #1. I have gone over each TG several times (eliminated some #1 assignments), but the system still shows up in #1 (seems to be a wildcard). I can't seem to get rid of it. Any suggestions.

Since I seem to have 2 wildcards; one I marked as private (for private calls) do I need that, or can I delete one (how?)?

While I have your attention, I wonder if scanlists can be tagged. So far, haven't found any reference in the various manuals available.

Thanks.

Update: I disabled the offending wildcard on #1. The scanner does not stop on any TGs, but the system name and the 'T" are flashing. Any ideas?

When you move stuf from one SList to another you must turn off the "*" astrisk on one and turn it "ON" on the other, thats what changes lists...If you have TG's in SList one you must hold on the TG, turn off the "*" scroll to SList3 and turn on the "*" before you press enter....

Yes you can tag your scan lists. Press PROG, GLOB, scroll to "Scan Lists: SEL", Press right directional, Press left on the scan list you want to change, press down and change tag. Don't forget to save.

Thanks guys, I eventually got it right.

The tagging info will come in handy.

Edit: Looks like I spoke too soon. I got as far as SL 1. Selecting it, then the only option is enable/disable. Tried Func-Cl and enter text, but only numbers appear.

What am I missing? Thanks again.

Thanks, my question is not about how to enter text, but rather, how to program the text for various scanlists.

. . . I wonder if scanlists can be tagged. So far, haven't found any reference in the various manuals available. . .
Page 58 of the User Manual (v1.3) has the following:

Naming, enabling and disabling Scan Lists
By default, Scan Lists are named “Scan List 01 - Scan List 20”. If
desired, you can give your Scan Lists names to describe their
function. Press PGM, then press the GLOB softkey and scroll
down to the Scan Lists parameter. Press the SEL key to display
the Scan Lists sub menu. Scroll to the desired Scan List and
press the  key to edit the settings for the selected Scan List,
Scroll to the Tag field and press the  key to edit the name.
Press the Done softkey when finished, then press the Save
softkey to save the changes to the Scan List sub menu, then
press the Save softkey again to save the changes to the Global
menu.

Thanks much. I followed the procedure, but couldn't decipher the 'key'--eventually tried the ENT key which was correct.

Took me a couple of tries to master the double-save, but finally got it.

Thanks again.

I think this may of been mentioned already. But since scanlist 1 is the default. Other things you program into other scanlist will bleed over to Scanlist 1. But you can eliminate that by Pressing PGM then F3/GLOB key and scroll down to Dflt Scanlist: and just put in 0 then press the F1Save key.

Did having the page number in the User Manual help with the deciphering?

That's an excellent idea. I've been plagued with that a couple of times. That '1' seems to sneak in occasionally.

I have to confess: I attempted to correct the problem by following what you posted online, and used a magnifying glass to read that key. I just now checked the RS manual (hard copy) and the PSR-500 manual (online). There is no reference (P58) to my question in either.

But I thank you just the same.

Pro-106 oversight

I really like the pro-106 scanner but I am amazed to see that with all the advanced technology that went into this scanner, it can't tell me that I entered a duplicate frequency! something that most $30 and 10 year old scanners
can do. Huge oversight on GRE's part.
