Your first mistake was letting anyone at the Shack do the programming...be that as it may...it would help if we knew WHAT county fire/sheriff and so on you're talking about. The devil is in the details!

Go up to the left, top blue toolbar under the site title and float your mouse over Database. Use the pulldowns to grab what system or area you're having problems with. C'mon back with the URL.

It's going to be tough to nail this down unless we have some idea of the programming that's already been done...best regards...Mike

Let us know what county/state/city you are listening too. That way we can help you on here.

Welcome to Radio Reference. You will find a lot of knowledge on here. The Pro 106 is a great scanner but can be intimidating if programmed by hand.

But there are few of us like my self who programs ares by hand.

I dont' think RS uses RR for programming scanners. I think I read somewhere that they were using Scanlite, but most of them quit programming scanners.

You might be able to put in the local PD freuquencies manually. I really don't know since your location isn't known.

RS scanners

The best way to avoid all RS assistance is to get one of the good Pro 106 software programs. They are easy to use and will save hours if you are punching in the data. The level of help varies greatly from store to store.

it all depends on your level of understanding about trunking in general really isnt to hard if you understand what you are programming and what you are setting up aka tower sites ect

Columbus Public Safety is rebanded Motorola II. Could be RS never programmed new controls nor set TTables.
Oslo, a few days ago you provided a user with an excellent pdf for rebanded systems including new control frequencies and TTables as I recall.

I thought they all just use the RR database and download a local file for their respective area, and then load it into customers' scanners on request.

Radio Shack is moving away from programing scanners in the store. With the new software they are rolling out, we can not connect the USB programing to our systems, run the custom version of Scancat Lite and are not able to run the Iscan software either. I have built a basic load for my area that is in the display Pro-164,Pro163 and Pro-197 which I use to clone the scanners we sell.

That was for Ocean County New Jersey.

I didn't see trunking tables on there. Is that a UHF/VHF or just 800MHz rebanded? If it's just an 800MHz rebanded Analog I can make PDF file no problem.

If it needs trunking tables I need to know the whole tables lo hi channels, offset spacing, step etc...

I see that the Columbus Police,Fire,EMS and Sheriff are also on the Indianda Project Hossier SAFE-T

Indiana Project Hoosier SAFE-T Trunking System, Statewide, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies

You should have no problem using your ARC 500 to program your Pro 106 using The link that says Columbus (Bartholomew)

Here some links that may help you ARC500 User Guide - The RadioReference Wiki

- Resources

I am still going to make a PDF file for Columbus Police for their System and one for the Bartholomew County on the Indiana Project Hoosier SAFE-T System.

Gives me something to do and helps others sometimes as a guide. Maybe I should become a technical writer using lamens terms.
