I received my new Pro-107 a few days ago, and it really felt strange compared to about a half dozen scanners I have owned and still do own. Once i got a "Pro-107 mindset" it really is actually pretty easy to use as long as the frequencies of interest are in the database. The software, however, is another story.
I tried to install it on my Windows 7-64 bit computer and it does not run. Attempting to run iSCANCD.exe from the root of the CD generates an "access violation". Attempting to run iSCANInstall.exe from the Software directory generated the same error a few times and then it appeared to run and install. The iSCAN program itself, however, will not run, also generating an "access violation". Windows says "Incompatible Application" or something similar. So, I installed the software on a semi-retired XP computer and it runs. Yes, I too had the problem with the "RRDB_vvv.014" file in the database, but after renaming that it ran fine.
Now the problem is a "Catch-22". Once RS realizes their software won't run on the computers they sell they will *most likely* provide a fix. However, since the software is not available for download, the appears, on the surface, no way to ever get the proper software for the Windows 7-64 bit computer. Hopefully RS will come up with a good solution, like turn in the CD for a new one. Otherwise, we will almost surely see a bootleg operation going on where new purchasers, after the fix, will begin sharing the CD with friends until some folks decide it is easier to post it somewhere.
Let's hope RS steps up and fixes this soon, not only for future purchasers but for current owners as well.
