Looking for a scanner for home and car. Wondering which scanner to get. If I got the 197 I would get the car mounted antenna that is magnetic but would also listen to it in the house. I guess my question is which scanner would you go with if price was not an issue. Is one better for what I want to use it for (car and home)??? Will I get better reception with one over the other??

Without stating where you will be scanning, it is difficult to answer your question. The 107, is a handheld, and might not be loud enough to hear in your vehicle. It is also just analog. The 197 is not a handheld, but a base/mobile. The audio will definitely be better. It will scan everything that the 107 does for analog, plus, digital and P-25. A magmount antenna, presuming it is the RS one, should give you good coverage. I use one that is modified in my shack. Let us know where and what.

Just taking a quick look at your county and the adjacent ones frequencies and systems, I would go with the 197.
