I'm way green on the whole radio thing. I've been scanning for a number of years with a pro-107. I recently picked up a Baofeng and have drummed up some interest in Ham. Now that I have two I thought I'd reprogram my pro-107. I have an old computer with iscan on it but it won't see the radio. This is strange to me. And I can't seem to find the old software online to install on my old computer. All the links I found are dead. I do have an old disc but my new computer has no CD drive. Worst case, I could probably connect an external drive to install but I'm also thinking that the software may not run on my newer windows 10 machine. Should I buy an external drive? Or should I have a memorial service for my pro-107?

Any opinions or guidance is welcome and appreciated.

:) There are ways to run prior versions OS software on/in windows 10. Keep waiting for those who can assist or try the windows 10 forum at ( Ten Forums - Windows 10 Help and Support Forum ). Good things come to those who try and experiment (but) no guarantees (because) the I-Scan software probably will not update anymore due to non-support of it's creators. There HAS BEEN a couple of 'work-arounds' offered to newer radio shack radios but again, I do not know the specifics regarding your particular model, if there are compatible 'fixes'. Good luck, if you take on this unique challenge! :)

Not to revive an old thread here, but I have an original Pro-107 iScan CD and I have it running on Windows 10 with no issues.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll try to hook up an external drive and install it on my windows 10 machine.

Are you able to download the latest database? I get a ”not found“ error when I try on my software with win10. Is there a way to program with the cable or does the sd card have to be inserted into the computer. Just picked one of these up and trying to sort it out.
Thanks.

Butel makes software for that scanner and its a much better software package, search pro 107 software in your search engine

I put this in Dropbox years ago and it still works. It's the Iscan Pro 107 software download, it is a WinRAR file, just click on it to download. Once downloaded click on the file and follow the instructions. Once the files have been unpacked, click on "iSCANCD" and it will install the software.
Dropbox - Public - Simplify your life7

That helps you get the original software. My question is how or where do I update the RR data files? There are no updates available using the Iscan software

It's been years since I used iScan, but I have my doubts that you can still update the database from RadioReference. If you can get the software installed, running, and communicating with your scanner, you may have to resort to copying and pasting frequencies and other info into the software, or manually typing the info. The digital relatives of the PRO-107, such as the PRO-18 and the GRE PSR-800, can be upgraded by Whistler and use the newer EZScan software, but the PRO-107 doesn't have an upgrade program. I'm sure the 107 still functions well on conventional analog but getting it reprogrammed has some hurdles.

Thanks for the reply. I live in an area that's still on conventional system and the 107 performs well here but I am moving back to where they are still using the Motorola Type II Smart Zone trunked system. The SD card became corrupted and I didn't have Iscan installed so I reinstalled it and got the software on my computer. Now it has the original RR data files and looking at the RR site the last updates for system I want are from 2020. I'll see how it goes with the 2009 data files once I get moved but in the meantime try to figure out how to do it manually. You are correct there is no updating anything on the 107 using the software's built in updating system. I just get error messages that they are moved or no longer available.

You probably already checked this, but just in case, you will want to make sure digital voice didn't get applied to that Type II system. Some of them have digital talkgroups.

I figured out how to get database update by downloading it to newer Whistler TRX programming software and copying it to the iScan software.

That's good to know. I have a 107 that hasn't been programmed in years and I've been wanting to update it for local analog stuff, but didn't want to do it all manually.

I was also having issues getting iScan to run and have begun using EZScan 700 from GRE and have been able to program the SD card. Same process of copying DB file from newer Whistler app for latest info.

Well I tried a PC/IF Charging cable from Amazon and the connector is clearly not what mates to the PRO-107, so am returning it.

Has anyone a clue what type of connector mates with the PRO-107? Even a picture of the radio end might help. Thanks Joe

As I recall from briefly owning the Pro-107 years back ..... the PC/IF connector on the Pro-107 looked very similar to what the Uniden BCDx96T and BCDx96XT scanners used with the Uniden USB-1 cable. Take a real close look at the port on your Pro-107 and see if it looks like the female 4 pin connector in this pic:

hirose1-jpg.119355

The Uniden USB-1 cable has the serial to USB adaptor built into the cable ending with a USB connection to the computer, but I have no idea if the pinout or any of the following info would be compatible with the Pro-107 so proceed at your own risk!

As I recall, the Pro-107 had a 5 volt input to one of the pins in that connector for charging that the Uniden's don't use.

If that connector looks like the one you have, here's some info that might help...

The spec sheet for those connectors is here (it's the 4 position version):

There is a pinout guide here for the Uniden connection directly to a to a DB-9 serial port (pin #1 is at the notched end of the Uniden socket) :

A cheaper version of the Uniden USB-1 cable:

An older post from RR is here:
