The short answer would be yes. I sold the one I had because of it's lack of Tone Squelch
decode, which is a deal breaker in my current RF noisy/polluted location.
But for pure receive, it's hard to find a scanner that consistently beats the old pro-2006.
Ditto that. At my location the outside antenna was overkill, why use it and the 10dB attenuator at the same time? The outside antenna is usually connected to lesser receivers here. Most of the local systems here are still conventional, and my 2006 is on 24/7.
On the same antennas, the 2006 will clearly pick up distant control channels that my PRO-92 just bearly gets, and the BCD396T can't hear at all.
Another idea. The 2006 can be turned into a piece of test equipment. Install a CSI Tone reader. Still a good Mil-Air, Ham, low-band skip receiver. For special jobs it's a keeper.
I got mine back in Nov. of 1993, I still have the sales slip in the 34 page manual. I still have it set up and use it. The light seems a little dim but I think I am just use to the new scanners like the 2055 and 2053. Still one of the best radio's I have even have the power unit for use in the car.
