Greeting,

I have a Pro-2006 that I have had since brand it was brand new, it works excellent but lately when I turn the unit on I am getting some loud scratchy noise that only lasts a second or two, would this be from dirty or dusty contacts on the on-off volume knob-switch?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I get the same thing on my PRO-2006. Yes, I do think it's dust or dirt on the volume pot. I just disconnect the power and turn the volume knob on and off a few times until it clears up. I think maybe spraying some contact cleaner on the back of the volume pot may help, but I'd like to hear from someone who has done this before I proceed.

I done this numerous times on various pieces of electronic equipment with 100% success. I use Radio Shack's Electronic Cleaner, CAT No. 64-4327, that cost around $2.00. Most potentiometer have enough of a gap where the connections enter the back, to allow you to squirt a small amount of cleaner into them. Some also have a small hole in the back of the metal housing. Immediately after doing so, turn the control back, and forth its full range several times, then give it an hour to dry.
