thats one of the date codes that is giving trouble with the display isn't ? my 2055 has a date code of 10a/06.Bucko said:I have a 2055 date code 06A05 that I bought in Feb of last year. Running it 24/7 should not matter, I have mine on just about all time but you never know.
I believe the 09A05 has given the most trouble but have read where this date has went out. Is does not mean that all 2055 displays will give trouble, some may never and then they may go bad the next time you turn it on. There is no way to turn off your display that I am aware of . If you are really that afraid of it going out do what 69stiles said and get your money back and get another scanner.jerry12 said:thats one of the date codes that is giving trouble with the display isn't ? my 2055 has a date code of 10a/06.
i probably will keep it if it goes out i think that i will get the pro-2096 or a unideni know uniden are good i use my last one 22 years and it is still working.mcema699 said:My 2055 is on 24/7. I too have one from the 9/05 batch. It was repaired and again has been running non-stop since the repair. You can turn off the light. You might be able to make the display invisable by using the contrast feature, but how would you see to adjust it back?
Granted no item should have such a large number of defective units, but any one unit from any source can fail. You just toss your money and hope that the odds are in your favor.
yea i new that but thank you any way.OkRob said:Jerry,
You can turn the backlight for the display and keypad off if you wish by using the Dim button, which is the bottom left button. Press it repeatedly and it will turn the backlight off. You may have known that already, but thought I'd mention it since you asked about turning the display and keypad off earlier in this thread. I don't know of a way to turn the display itself off.
