There are SO many variables that could be the cause - but one of the easiest to eliminate is to open it up and see if the antenna connection is broken. If not, can you hear your local NOAA station?
If you can, before the scanner goes to the big scanner recycler in the sky, let's find out precisely where you are (city/county/state will do) and what you were listening to in that scanner originally. Has the system moved to a digital platform and/or been rebanded? Be as specific as possible. Go to the Database link in the blue toolbar on the left under the site title and follow the pulldowns. Let's get the name of the system(s) involved.
If you can't hear your local NOAA station, it may be time for a decision. I really don't know if RS is still repairing these old beasts, but you can ask. If not, it's time for a new scanner....
