I was told that to monitor the USAF Thunderbirds, I need to set my scanner to AM. I do not think that's possible, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is.

I found some information in the online User Guide for my scanner, regarding "Sensitivity (AM/FM/WFM)" (see page 39: http://rsk.imageg.net/graphics/uc/rsk/Support/ProductManuals/2000433_PM_EN.pdf). Are these the settings that the PRO-433 defaults to for the given bands?

Thanks for the help

Yes. The 433 will set itself, according to what frequency you program in. It automatically "knows" what modulation type to use.

How you like your 433? I used to have one.. Thinking I may have made a mistake by selling it!

KG4LJF is correct on the 433 setting the mode for what freq you use. The draw back is it is useless for the 138 to 142mz range Mil comms that use AM mode for it sets it to FM mode.

I like the 433. As far as I'm concerned, it's fairly simple to use and straight-forward. Thanks for the help, too.

You're right. I was only able to pick up a little of the local airshow, and that band was mostly useless. :( Oh well.

thanks for the help

Awesome... Glad you're enjoying it. Have you got the Butel ARC433 software and RadioShack USB cable for it yet? Those items really make programming super easy.. For trunked systems, it's a must have!

I still use my ARC433 for my RadioShack Pro-528... It's dumb the 433 has MilAir, but the 528 does not... They're the same scanner!!! Oh well... Haha..
