I have a question here I wonder why the Pro-433 is $169 but only goes on sale for $149

While the Pro-97 goes for $199 and goes on sale for $149

Now i have owned both and maybe its just my opnion but the Pro-433 or the 528 recevies better(by a long shot) than the 97 with the same antenna and on the same bands

I know the Pro-97 has apha tagging but i would much rather have a better " receiver " for the buck plus the Pro-433 has rebanding

Now if you had the Pro-433 plus apha tagging that would be a great reveiver

Its just my opinion, anyone dissagree?

I have both scanners. Well, all 4 actually. I have the Pro-97, it's sister the 2055, The Pro-528, and it's sister, the Pro-433.

In order to make a correct choice, one needs to examine what they want to listen to. If they will be affected by rebanding, I'd reccomend the 528 or the 433. Even though these scanners have no alpha tagging feature, and no PL feature, they ARE rebanding compliant.

The Pro-97 and 2055 ARE NOT rebanding compliant. For scanning VHF, UHF, and EDACS trunked systems, the 97 and 2055 ROCK. They both also do Military aircraft as well. ONLY the 433 will do MilAir. Which does not make a whole lot of sense, considering the 528 is the same scanner.

If you live in an area that will be affected by rebanding, and you only want to buy once, I reccomend the 528 or 433. If you'll never see rebanding, the 97 or 2055 are your weapons of choice.

Personally, I like the Signal Stalker on the 528 better than the version on the 97 and 2055. As far as performance, I can't tell a whole lot of difference between the two. I know the 528's Signal Stalker is much more sensitive than the 97 and 2055's. But maybe that's just mine. I've heard a few say their 528 was deaf.

If you want alpha tagging, PL tones, and the ability to survive rebanding, splurge and get a RadioShack Pro-96 or 2096 digital scanner. I think ALL of Unidens trunkers are rebanding compliant, digital or not, but since we're talking about RadioShack's stuff here, we won't get on that horse just yet..
