Anyone got thier hands on a Pro-528 yet? My local RadioShack franchise store has 2 in stock.. They're in blister packs just like the Pro-97.. Was anxious to hear reports on how they were performing..

That is an apt description of it. It is also a (like the 94) uniden manufactured scanner, the biggest "upgrade" I see on it over the 94 is the signal stalker.
Side by side comparison the 528 looks newer.

No text naming of channels though, so the 97 (by GRE) is still a better bet, usually only ~$30 more for the 97 over the 528.

Oh yeah, like the 94, keypad above the speaker. That is my biggest complaint about my 97 is the keypad location...feels...strange...

It didn't seem too bad....almost bought one the other day, not a bad price, MILAIR, Trunking, Signal Stalker etc.

'Till the associate got some batteries and I turned it on....NO ALPHA TAGS!!! RRRRRRRR!!!

I'd prolly still buy one for kicks.

Is that correct??? MILAIR? I thought (according to specs and user manual) it did not cover 225-400 AM. Also can the mode be changed in the 138-142 section?

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I grabbed the owner's manual for the 528, and no milair - perhaps that was an early version of the manual? It seems like, if true, that Uniden (who manufactures this scanner) made a portable and a mobile with different freq coverage - something they don't normally do. Very odd...73s Mike

I don't think they could be cloned if they didn't have the same coverage and functions.

Yes....I stand corrected. NO MILAIR.

When I was in the store I only glanced at the label thinking it had more in that range.

So do you guys think a 528 is worth the money at it's regular price?

I know they're worth $99.99.... I'll probably pick one up for myself when it does to that price..

Apparently you did not believe me when I posted that is has NO MIL AIR.
When you clone it from the 433 it simply ignores the Mil Air freqs.

Sorry, I'm not a member of that group nor do I plan to be, but thanks for the info anyway. Too bad about the mil-air, however I do think the 528 is worth another look at $99.
