I walked into a sweet deal today at a garage sale. The seller thought it was a walkietalkie missing its twin. I told him it was actually a scanner and how much did he want. He said $5. I said sold:D
This thing works fantastic. I got San Mateo PD on UHF at 19 miles off the dukkie! I'm getting SFO stuff from here too. Frankly, my Unidens at the desk are cowering with embarrasment right now:D
I noticed it was made in Japan for RS-how old is this thing? Do they still have Japan making their scanners at RS? First handheld I have ever owned and it is neat. I never realized how fun and user-friendly these things are and strong receivers at that! Triple conversion is nice.

Me too I have seen quite a few get away from me-a couple within seconds at these sales. This deal was so lucky-he was selling out the whole house and this radio was in a bedroom setting on a bed amongst linens doylees towels and sewing stuff:D I think someone was going to get it but changed their mind in that room and tossed it on the bed

The Pro-62 is a good conventional scanner, circa 1994.
yeah you are right-I did some searching and it's pretty old and no TT but it will be fun:)

Wow, great deal! I've got a Pro-64 sitting on my desk now that I've had for 11 years or so that's still working great. Luckily the stuff I'm interested in scanning is still analog around here.

Here too-like the whole SF peninsula, the east bay, north bay, the marine, RR etc. I'm sure you enjoy your 64 I am still amazed at what this radio will get just off that little rubber whip!

ok I have to come in here and put in a "sad" update...not sad for the Pro-62 but indeed sad for the Unidens I own:mad: I have been enjoying this little bomb of a radio because it has an amazingly powerful receiver in it. I had always thought the BC785D was sort of lame in the conventional mode, which the BC350A made up for. Between the two at the desk, it's all covered from CHP all up thru SFPD 800. However, since I got hold of this Pro-62, it has been putting the others to absolute shame! This radio gets as much, and even more especially on airband, off the whip on top of the radio compared to the Unidens working off the d130j on the roof. My first thought was "ok the Diamond is lame" but then I had a "DUHH" moment and hooked the 62 up to the diamond and BAM!! San Jose at 40+ miles UHF like it was here in San Francisco. Shameful for those old Unidens, but this pro-62 was truly done well and is just as old as that BC350A.
If there was a piece of advice I could give after my discovery here, it is this- if you see a Pro-62 available-get it. I for one, am really impressed and it has taken up a spot at the desk:) rave over:D
