Loved the scanner when I got it, then I got out of scanning for a while. But I am back into it with the recent storms and flooding and wildfires so I did a google search that got me local frequencies and here I am.

So, I asked a firefighter friend if they use digital radios, and they do.

I get some stuff on my Pro 82 but I am wondering how much I am missing out on with digital converstaions? I mean I got my local Counties list and there are some really active channels, but am I missing out?

Do I need a newer scanner to hear everything?

Is my scanner even good anymore or should I buy a new one anyways?

Tells us the County and State and city that you live in or by. I'm guessing California because you mentioned wildfires. It all depends of what system is used. Some use digital. Some use analog. Some use analog/digital mix. Some encrypted. Some Provoice. Some OpenSky which no scanner can monitor yet, but people are working on it.
