Hey Guys,

I need some quick help. I am trying to program my PRO-94 (NON-A Model) and I can't seem to get this thing working. I will enter the frequencies but when I enter the tags it keeps leaving #4 blank? Then it would say SCAN Id SCAN.

Also, Im assuming you enter the DEC for the tags correct?

Anyone?

Maybe I can make myself a little more clear...

I am trying to program the Mint Hill, NC trunking talkgroups.
Those are located here-- Mint Hill Public Safety Trunking System, Mint Hill, North Carolina - Scanner Frequencies

ALSO- When it asks for the type of trunking system I use the Motorola Type II Opition (Scanner option: E2-800)

I enter my TG ID's as such:

Mint Hill Police Dispatch: DEC- 48 000
Mint Hill Police Conference: DEC- 14 400
Mint Hill Fire / EMS TG's: DEC- 24 160
_________________________________________________________________________________

So here is how I am programing the scanner:

1. Press program
2. Press trunking
3. Select number bank for storing the freqs.
4. Type in the following freqs in this order-
851.47500
852.46250c
852.83750c
853.06250c
853.58750c
5. Press SCAN then SRC
6. Press Program to enter Talkgroup id's
7. Enter the following TG ID's in the following order. (I skip the first freq. I do not enter any TG ID for it)
Freq #1- (Left Blank)
Freq #2- 48 000
Freq #3- 48 000
Freq #4- 14 400
Freq #5- 24 160
8. Once I enter these- Press SCAN then SRC

After I go through all this, the scanner searches and then flashes to TG ID #4 and it shows it blank. The #4 flashes and then it scans again.

Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

Thanks

You don't enter the zeros after the talkgroup ID - just enter it as is shown in the database; however there's another significant issue - this is a rebanded system - the 94 may not trunk this properly. Best regards...Mike

Mike, Thanks for info. This leads me to another question...Does the PRO-94 not work for any Re-Banded trunking systems?

Also just to double check and clarify what you said: When entering TG ID's I just need to enter the DEC number with OUT any zero's correct?

Example-
Mint Hill Police- 48 000:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Instead it should be just 48?

Thanks

Any Motorola rebanded system, yes, it's going to have a problem. With EDACS, all you need to do is drop your freqs 15 mhz and reprogram, being sure to respect the correct channel order

And yes, no leading or trailing zeros needed on the talkgroups- not that it makes much difference in this case. The Pro-94 is functionally very similar to the BC245, and I've programmed a couple of those...a talkgroup of 48000 is vastly different than 48...

PRO 94 "Ask an Expert"?

Guidance Please?

I have been around police scanners my whole life. I was raised by a Chicago PD Sargent; and for the first year away at school I had to have a scanner near my bed to sleep at night. You would think I would have picked up a little something about programming? NOT.

I was recently going through a box of things that my dad had left for me when he passed away a few years ago and found a RS PRO 94 still in the box. I've tried using the manual that came with it, but it's written in Sand Script, or something. The internet has a few good sites for "how to" programming, but lacked the "what if" stuff that makes programming fun. I turn to you the experts. After reading some of your threads and post on this site, I was impressed at the wealth of knowledge out here on the subject of programming. I don't know anything about banded vs rebanded, trucked, EDACS or DEC's. Would some please help the new guy out? I have a PRO 94 and my primary interest are in law enforcement and fire & rescue. I there software out there to help organize and program? Where do I start? Thanks, Guys
