pro-96 apco help needed

I just picked up a pro-96

I downloaded the system freqs (RISCON) from RR database and the scanner seems to track the system fine.

I get some garbled transmissions which I assume is encryption. Other times the plain transmissions get clipped or garbled. Is there any way to adjust the pro-96 to improve reception on digital transmissions?

How do i get the name of the talkgroup to display instead of the number?

You have to program the name of the talkgroups in yourself.

You can also use Win96 to import the talkgroups with alpha tags.

Better antenna or location or both, the digital seems to need a better antenna though. The radio shack 800mhz seems to work very well, but if your in your home you may need an outside antenna, especially if you have aluminum foil backed insulation or aluminum siding.
of course it could be due to the officers location too and he isn't hitting the tower to begin with.

After programming the ID's... make sure that the bank is CLOSED (func-5 or do it in win96) otherwise you will still hear all the traffic and see all the 15220 etc.. instead of just the ones you programmed.
