My Pro-96 low battery warning starts going off about 2-3 maybe more hours before it actually dies dose any body have a better setting for it using win96 it is currently set at 3.94. I am using energizer rechargeable 2500 mAh batteries. Thanks in advance.

I though I had scene a thread about this before, but i did a search for it and didn't find anything.

I changed my battery low alert to 3.80. I'm using Duracell 2500's in mine, and I've had it on all day long..

Duracell 2650's

I recently purchased a set of Duracell 2650's. Using a decent voltmeter it appears these cells are about 0.02 volts lower than all my other rechargeables. Probably how they squeezed in the extra 150Ma, LOL. I reduced my low voltage warning alarm w/WIN97 software accordingly. This does work, but I am not without concerns about having too low a setting and having the radio lose everything when the cells die. Hmmm, any thoughts?

Your scanner will not lose any info if your cells die. What you program in is stored in non-volatile memory. That's why you don't lose anything when you change batteries. On a side note, not sure how you are charging your batteries, but I personally recommend not doing so with them still in the radio. Use an external charger/conditioner. I don't care for the amount of heat generated inside the radio during the charging process, and would rather it be dissipated external to the scanner by the charging unit. Also, if you have at least two sets of batteries you can have one in the radio and one in the charger, ready to go. Happy scanning.

Low Battery Settings in WIN97/96

According to the user file in WIN96, the "Battery Level LO" voltage setting has no effect on scanner operation other than when the low battery warning comes on. The scanner will still shut itself off once battery voltage drops below a hardset limit. Lowering the LO level voltage just shortens the time the scanner beeps at you before shutting off. Most Ni-Cd and Ni-MH have verylow slope discharge rates. They will maintain almost full voltage until 80% to 90% of their charge is used and then quickly discharge to zero.

Just a quick question about the PRO-96 scanner, when the batteries in my scanner get low the scanner does not beep and it only flashes the light and goes on and off for about three minutes. My batt Lo setting is at 3.00 is this the problem?

And I thought reading the manual or on this website somewhere I read you can check the battery level on the scanner?

I'm running it at 4.23V for low via Win 96. Does seem kinda high, but it's a relic from my old 1800mAH set. (Now I'm running 2400mAH set from Fry's at surprisingly low price...
I rekon I could set it higher, but I can run all day off an overnight charge...)

I would have to think that the low setting of 3.00 is your problem. It doesn't have time to beep...when it hits 3.00 it's done instantly.

If the 3.00 is my problem what is a good level to have, should I use the 3.80 that someone mentioned earlier. Win96 help section said the default is 3.94.

Also does someone have an answer for my other question. Which is can you check the battery level while the batteries are in the scanner?

3.94 is the way to go. No you can not check the battery level via the scanner.
