Volume recently went out on my Pro 96. It wasnt dropped and or anything just went out of the blue. It appears to be an issue with the volume knob. When I try to adjust the volume high or low I hear some slight static (not squelch) from the speaker. The unit scans fine just no volume adjustment on any mode.

Any idea how the repair process works and toal repair cost through radio shack...?

Thanks

The same thing happened to me. I had to take it to Radio Shack to get it fixed. It cost me $54.29 ($49 Labor and $5.29 for the part which is a new volume control. So you are looking at a cost around there.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea of the part number(s) for the volume control part(s) needed? I'm pretty handy and actually took of the back cover JUST to get a glance at the internals of the radio.

Any techs on here or anyone have any experience replacing the volume control that could offer some assistance...? I'm looking inside and see two blue box pot assy's below each volume and squelch knob......
