Maybe this is the nature of the digital beast, but I also wonder if it is a problem. I many times hear no activity on my 96 but look at the display and see that it appears to locked onto a talk group. I go to manual and look at the CC and see 96% but when back in scan I will still get no sound but see a TG showing on the display.
I am monitoring a P25 9600 system and consistantly have 90% or greater showing for the CC.
This does not occur all of the time. It comes and goes randomly but is annoying when I see it happening. I had the issue with DSP version 1.2 and also with 1.3.
Any ideas from the gurus out there?

TIA and 73
Bob

Bob,

My first thoughts are that you are scanning a Motorola VHF or UHF system with incorrect table settings. I then checked your other postings and see you've posted in the WV interop forum also, confirming my thoughts. Table 00 and 01 in this pic apply in the WV system, the others are ignored.

BTW, You will need Win96 from www.starrsoft.com to do this as only one table can be set using the scanner keyboard. You will also need a cable, which can be purchased from Radio Shack. Cable # 20-047 if you have a USB port on the PC or 20-289 if the PC only has a 9 pin serial port.

Thanks Frank. I was under the impression from looking in the RS manual that all I needed to do was enter the CC frequency and the 96 would do the rest. Guess that is not entirely true, huh?
Thanks again!!

CC freqs is all that is needed for Mot trunk scanning, however, review page 34...for details on setting Mot UHF/VHF Mot systems.

Again, with two tables, you will need win96.

Try this in the meantime.

With the CC's correctly programmed, press as follows:
Prog>Trunk
FUNC + 2
453.0250> ENT
8192>ENT
Down Button to 12.5>ENT

FUNC + 4
Down Button to Table>ENT

SCAN

Only one table may be needed to pick up some traffic but I think both will be required for complete coverage,
