Pro-96 Turning on Problem?

Lately My Pro-96 does not want to turn on. It just says "DPS 1.0 Loading" and will not continue to the welcome screen. After letting it set a while it may start fine or it may not. Charging and or changing batterys is a major deal. I have upgraded firmware, and also did a master reset. I also took it apart and looked at the boards and it was clean. the radio is two years old and has worked great. I do take it almost every this time of year. Anyone else seen this problem? Who would know how to fix it. Radioshack service?

Also I need a Pot Assy squelch knob for a Pro-95 any one know where to get one?

Can you explain this a little further? I'm thinking that it may be the batteries.

Are you using standard or rechargeable batteries? How old are they? Have you tried the scanner plugged in? What was the last thing you did with the scanner before the problem started?

Radio Shack should be able to get the pots for you.

I always get this message when I run down the batteries too much. It will shut off and then try and power cycle. I would believe tiny580 it's the same issue.

The scanner turns off and it takes a while to get it to turn back on.

Can you explain this a little further? I'm thinking that it may be the batteries.
I have new (2 months old energizer) rechargeables in the yellow battery holder.

Have you tried the scanner plugged in? Does it pluged in too. Anytime the thing shuts off.

What was the last thing you did with the scanner before the problem started?
carried it with me all day in tow truck. worked great. that night it would not turn on after pluging it in. so i left is overnight pluged in and turned off and the battrys did charge. in the morning it took 2 or 3 times to get it turned on.

No. No no no they got parts list with the part# that means nothing to no one. visited 3 stores, called number on parts list. they gave me the the next number and then they gave me the number to the place that i got there number from.
