can you have an alpha tag on more than just one line?? Isn't it 16 character 4 line alpha tagging???? If so, how do I do it with win97?????????.....thanks

I don't think you can exceed the single line on the Pro-97

You can't. 16 characters is the longest and cannot be wrapped around to another line.

You CAN Alpha Tag your banks.
Instead of your display showing
Bank 1 Channel 1, you can tag it based on what the Bank is used for.
My scanner's bank 1 is labelled, "Local Fire"
Then I Alpha Tag each talk group. If my local FD TG comes up, the display shows,
Local Fire
Miami Township
Not a wrap around, but a different way to "skin the cat" so to speak. I've found it to be very useful.

2. Banks; but they only display while scanning, not when stopped
3. Talkgroups; essential for identifying TGs.
4. The sign-on message; put your name there or use it to ID which of your scanners is which.
Item 2 above is a pet peeve of mine regarding the PRO-97. The earlier models such as the PRO-95 display the BANK TEXT in addition to the channel text when stopped on a conversation. This effectively gives you 24 characters to ID a channel (12 characters x 2). The PRO-97 limits you to a single line of 16 for conventional channels; probably because most people display CT/DC info on line 4. Trunked systems can be set to display the TEXT associated with the control channel on line 3 and the TEXT associated with the TG on line 4.
