Pro 97....multiple trunked systems on a particular bank?

I know that if the trunked system type is different, you have to throw them on separate banks and each bank has to be set to the respective trunk type.

However, can I throw 2 or more Motorola Type II systems in a single bank as long as the bank type is set to Motorola?

I've tried but either there hasn't been any activity on the systems I've programmed, or what I'm doing is just wrong and that's why I haven't heard anything.

That's correct, but you didn't ask about EDACS, just Motorola, or I would have told you then.

alright thanks...I was using Motorola as an example but I meant in general, sorry.

I'm guessing LTR won't work either since it requires exact locations also.

Correct, both EDACS and LTR require that frequencies be entered on specific channels so mixing two of either type together is, with rare exceptions, not possible. You should be able to mix two Mot Type II systems but be aware that, if both have some of the same talk group ID's, you may see the wrong ID for one of the systems occasionally.

First; consider that all transmissions in a bank will use the same talkgroup list. Therefore system A might have PD using TG 01616 while that TG on system B is public works. If they are both small systems with short lists of talkgroups, it can work.

Next you'll need to put a CONVENTIONAL frequency between the trunked freqs. What I do is enter ALL frequencies associated with trunk system A first (not just the identified control channels), followed by several conventional frequencies, followed by ALL frequencies for trunk system B. There must be at least one non-locked-out conventional frequency between the two active control channels for this to work.

Good luck

Does a non-programmed channel qualify as a non-conventional...or do I just throw some random frequency where I know there's no transmission (which the squelch should pass over) and set type to FM/CT/DCS?

A channel which is not programmed, is locked out, or is set to MO does NOT qualify. I've heard of people just programming a freq that will get passed over. Personally, I've got some local simplex 800 MHz channels programmed, which sometimes have conversations.
