I cannot pick up this system at all. I had it programmed in an older Radio Shack PRO radio and it it worked superbly. I've spoken to others about this short coming in the PRO-97, and I've found that I'm not alone in my frustration with this radio.

Do any of you have helpful suggestions on how to make this work? Short of selling the radio of course. LOL

I have also considered buying a PRO-96 but if this is any example of what to expect... why waste the hard earned coin?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply.
Occassionally if I tie aluminum foil around my head, and stand on one foot while facing north during a full moon a very weak and broken signal will come through.

Then the programming doesn't matter. If you don't get a signal, you don't get reception.

Thanks to Rich Carlson I was able to determine the problem was a combination of things. One is that it is of the utmost importance when using the PRO-97 to NEVER program the EDACS starting with the "first" channel in the bank. But with the lousy instruction manual it glosses over this and says start at channel 01. True if you read this it makes perfect sense. But to place this into context of the instructions, when they are saying this, the topic isn't where to begin programming, but to emphasise the point of programming EDACS in their logical channel number order. It does not note, or make any reference to the fact that if you don't begin on the "second" channel in the bank (01) you will not hear anything.
Also I found that even though ID's were "not" locked out, that if you did not clear them all and begin fresh for some reason you still could not hear anything.
