I recently purchased Pro-83 and Pro-84. After just a few days I began to dislike both.
Sensitivity was poor when using a Diamond RH77CA and listening to WX channels. I used "close call" and received a AM signal on a marine channel. Neither model could change modulation. That, laddies and gentlemen, was the deal breaker.

The plus side of both radio receivers was the small size and excellent display. The buttons seemed to small for my fingers.

I would rank the ol' Pro-95 above in sensitivity and button size.

So, I wave goodbye to both Uniden Scanners dressed up to look like Radio Shack models.

I am confused, the marine channels are FM.

The 83 and 84 are the same radio. If you look at the FCC ID number you will see that. It's equal to the Uniden BC92XLT minus the backlight.

I just think the 84 is the "Helo Kitty" version. A little too "racy". ;-)

There are a few minor updates with the PRO-84. It has firmware 1.07 while the PRO-83 is 1.06. The PRO-84 handles 6.25-kHz channelization and is pre-loaded with popular NASCAR frequencies. Signal stalker delay is increased so you have more time to hit a key to see the frequency.
