I have recently replaced and aging Uniden Bearcat hooked up to a discone antenna on the siren tower 35' high with a PRO2055 and I don't have a 10th of the reception I had prior to switching units. Any thoughts?? I am a very happy PRO97 user with the understanding the 2055 is the mobile version of the 97.

Something that has been widely disseminated about GRE/RS scanners is that they are prone to desense, particularly in the VHF range. If you live in an urban area, and/or have lots of pagers, ect in the area (in either the VHF or UHF range), the likely solution is to slap a filter (from PAR, ect.) in line. 73s Mike

You might get some improvement by using the attenuator. Sounds counterintuitive, I know, but if desense is your problem, then the attenuator is your friend.

I live in the Memphis area and use this ScannerMaster filter

Plus, even with the filter I still have to use the attenuator on some frequencies. I highly recommend the filter above. It cut out a ton of stuff and cleaned up my receptions and reduced the need for the attenuator on about 80% of my frequencies.
