• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm having difficulty trying to recover a 7580e. It states that I do not have a software package installed. Can I get this from Motorola Solutions via the MyView? The codeplug has a password that I do not know. Does anyone have a 7580e code plug I could use? Thank you.

Firmware R02.10.00.0001
CP Version 15.00.16

Does the radio have to be within an active warranty period for me to be able to download the R02.10 firmware?

No it does not, the SUM process is R2.10 based. You must update to R2.10 an have an active entitlement on the subscriber before moving to any of the M202n.nn releases but anyone can get R2.10.

I have been reselling used commercial two-way radio equipment as a side business for over 20-years. I typically acquire equipment in lots in excess of 50 radio units. I make a significant profit almost 100% of the time hence me continuing to operate a business I enjoy. Many of us have different end-goals with our questions; a capitalist like me or an amateur/hobbyist like many. Your unproductive comments are unwelcome and do absolutely nothing but to create animosity. Please stay on topic; thank you.

Sorry. I guess business man would have been better than hobbyist. Then it makes sense.

Apology accepted. I run into password protected equipment frequently and sometimes I cannot get into the radios to wipe them clean. That is why sometimes I need to ask around when I'm stuck.

I had a few in February that came from Florida theme parks. They were locked. One I had to recover, & the other simply took a code plug I had. Good luck in the side hustle.
