Hello,

I've been trying for countless days now to program my new BC246T Uniden Scanner.

All I am looking to do is program it to work with my Local Sheriff's office (Snohomish County, WA). I have found the page on the website that lists all the codes but I can not figure out how to program them into my scanner. I have purchased the full version of the softwear for my computer from Uniden. The link below lists the channels I'm trying to program.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Stuck in Seattle,
Josh

For manual programming, try this link. Much easier to understand than the manual. The software version you have I'm not familiar with. Freescan and Butel ARC246 are other good software options. Freescan is just that......FREE!

Okay, so I downloaded Freescan and have it installed.
Can you direct me more how I can transfer the information from RR to it to my scanner?
Thanks!

Have you tried getting the paid subscription for RR which will allow your software to automatically get the system into the software which you can then upload into your scanner?

I haven't..I will try that next. But I must just be missing something here...
All I want (for now) are these channels:
Snohomish County Sheriff Talkgroups

DEC HEX Mode Alpha Tag Description Tag
1616 065 A SAR Search and Rescue Law Tac
1648 067 A S SO DISP South Dispatch Law Dispatch
1680 069 A E SO DISP East Dispatch Law Dispatch
1712 06b A N SO DISP North Dispatch Law Dispatch

But everywhere I go I do not see a place for DEC or HEX input...I keep seeing "enter freq"....I apologize for what I'm sure sounds like a noob comment but that is my problem now. If I could somehow translate this to making sense to right now where I see “enter frequency” that would be AWESOME.

Thanks in advance;)

You are programming a trunk system. You first need to setup the scanner to program a trunk "system", this will be where you program in the frequencies. You only need the primary (red) and alternate (blue) control channels. Be sure you set the scanner to control channel only mode. The talkgroups would be what you program next. The "users" of the system are identified by the talkgroup numbers you see, such as 1616/SAR Search & Rescue, 1648/South Dispatch, etc....

For more detailed info regarding how trunking works check the Wiki section here as well.

Looking further at what you are trying to program, this system appears to be a mix of analog/P-25 digital modulation. The 246T scanner will only work on analog and not digital. Check with other users in your area to see how much digital is used in this system. The statewide forums will be your best bet.

FINALLY I think I understand the terminology. Haha thanks.
Now I'm working on programming this in...
All I really want is the South Dispatch...can you tell what kind that is?

All the channels tagged with Mode "A" are analog. Mode "D" is digital and "E" is encrypted.

The four you list above are Analog and should be scannable.
