Hi
I am trying to program a psr300 scanner using psr300edit software and RR data base.
I am trying to program scott co. Iowa sheriff dept. This is an EDACS system.. I must be missing something somewhere. Can someone walk me through the process? I have read the instructions and wiki frq asked questions until I am blue in the face.after I upload to the radio I get nothing.

I have not used PsrEdit300, so I cannot be specific. I use WIN97. In that software you select "import". You have to log in to RR and it takes you through a series of screens to select what you want. Then you "download" the data into the software. The last step is programming the scanner.

After you import data from RR, does it display in PsrEdit300? It should.

After you download the data to your scanner, are you able to manually look at it in your scanner?

The common mistake people make when programming EDACS systems is that they start programming in scanner channel 0 (so if bank 1, they start at 100) rather than channel 101. But I expect the software to figure this out for you.

Can you tell us what step in the process you are at?

Programming a PSR-300

It sounds to me like you selected the incorrect upload option in WIN97. I know this is a little confusing......

There are 3 upload options. "Upload to scanner" means you're uploading to a PRO-97.
There is also "Upload to PSR-300/400 (CPU 1.03 or earlier)"
and "Upload to PRO-164/163, PSR-300/400"

To figure out what version firmware you have in your PSR-300, power it off. Turn in on. When you see the sign-on message press 3. Then use the correct upload option.

It is ProVoice

It uploaded but it still will not scan. all the dsata is there but no sound
I believe you are trying to scan this system. I see that it is analog and ProVoice, so it does depend on the specific TG as to whether or not you'll be able to receive it with a PSR-300. The notes suggest posting your issue in an Iowa forum.

are you programming ALL frequencies in LCN order & each bank as well frequency in EDacs MODE. YOU WILL NEED all frequincies FOR edacs systems.,each site should go in separate banks each bank & ALL frequencies should be set to EDACS MODE also :)

bobf, what scanner do you have? Win96 only works with the PRO-96 or PRO-2096. For the PRO-163 or 164 you need one of the packages listed in this article...

PSR-300/400 Software and USB Support - The RadioReference Wiki

Keep in mind both the 163 and 164 are analog only trunktrackers - for our neck of the woods, a digital trunktracker is a must, since many systems in Central Maryland use P25.

PRO-164, WIN97, EDACS and programming

Since you are using the import function, that would be the dictating factor. I would expect the software to do all of this correctly for you.

What I would do is check what is actually in your scanner with what the database says. Go to the bank where you've programmed this system. For example, if in bank 0, press MAN 0 0 0 MAN. Use the UP arrow to step through each channel. When you are in channel 001, does the frequency match what's in the DB? Step through all of them and check, it shouldn't take too long.
