Programing the Icom IC-R5

I just ordered the R5 so I was looking at the instructions ahead of time. I ran across something I don't understand, there is a mode called VFO which I understand stands for Variable Frequency Oscillator but next to it every time is [V/M•S.MW•]. What do these letters stand for. Thanks for anyones help.

when u press the v m s mw button you can change the receive mode from am fm or wfm. and to set the freq to be programmed.
