Programming a 1 frequency p-25 system?

I can not figure out and cant find in my BC296D owners manual how to program a police dept in my area that only uses one(1) 800mhz frequency?

Hmmm. It should work. It works for the P25 conventional channels being used at DFW and for LA Police. Are you certain it is P25?

With a 396, I just create a new conventional system, then create a typical group. Enter the frequency as a conventional frequency in that group. You don't need to do anything with respect to P25. The radio will know it's a digital channel when it stops there.

I would imagine that a 296D would not be that much different (with the exception of using banks versus dynamic memory).

I noticed this inadvertantly shortly after I got my 396. Details of what I found are here.

i guess the big question is: is the digital card turned on in the menu?

There are no groups on a 296 only banks. If the freq is true p25, you only have to program the channel as a conventional freq.
