Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Greetings to all,

I am having difficulty accessing the programming mode on Jaguar 700Pi. When I try the 3 button simultaneous push, I can't enter PGM mode. The option buttons work fine, but when trying the XMIT button alone, it will not key up the unit. I have tried pushing on it from different "spots" on the bar, pushing hard/soft, without success. I need to change some personalities in the radio.

Is there any alternative method to get into PGM mode? Also tried using an external speaker/mic as the XMIT button, without success. Any further suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks--saber2k5

Make sure that all three buttons on the side of the radio all work individually. Normally programmed, you should get at least a key beep when you press any one of them. If one of them causes no key beep or other action, then you won't be able to get into program mode until that issue is corrected.

Most probable cause is a degraded rubber PTT button underneath the plastic PTT button in the housing. These go bad routinely.

Sometimes, you can help things by adding a paper or plastic shim inside the front cover between the metal retainer for the PTT flex and the flex itself. Be careful not to damage the flex....

One of the problems my department has run into with our Jags is that the little plastic plunger on the back of the PTT lever breaks off, mostly on older radios with a lot of use. You can pry the plastic lever off the case if you get a small screwdriver and pry carefully from the top to pop it loose. Then you can check the plunger and the rubber cover both.

I have seen several Jags with this problem. Most of them were using lapel mics so the didn't even know that the PTT button was broken until I tried to program the radio.

There is a replacement PTT kit for these radios vice having to replace the whole front cover.
