Does anyone have experience configuring the PRO197 for monitoring Dakota Cty? I was told by radio shack that this scanner model only supports 700mhz freq and that it wouldnt work? Not sure about that.

I believve I have the device programmed correctly for all the Burnsville PD and FD TGs. The scanner shows its receiving control channel data, but sits their quietly..Am I supposed to press the TSYS button, and then analyz? When I do that i get static or what sounds like a machine gun.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you using software to program? That would make it easier if you are not. But make sure you selected P25 Auto and NFN. Win500 software is really good. Win500: PSR-500, PSR-600, PRO-106, PRO-197, PSR-310, PSR-410 Scanner Software for Data Management, Monitoring, and Control

Here is a good web site for operating the scanner. Easier to Read Pro-106/197/PSR500/600 Digital Scanner Manual

The scanner does support more than just 700mhz Pro-197 - The RadioReference Wiki
The Radio Shack guy didn't read the specs well enough.

Hope you get it working.

I just purchased a Pro 197 and have tried to read about it, programming, manuals, software, etc and I'm so lost I'll have to go find myself. There is so much info out there, but is it that difficult?

I purchased software and downloaded several files from the database, then downloaded them to the radio and I can see that it's scanning them, but I hear nothing. I manually loaded Empire West and that works, but that's the only freq I get anything on.

I'll be watching to see what you guys come up with.
