Now if someone could put freescan back on the map it would be nice.

Perhaps you should polish your coding skills, and provide a free, easy to use software for programming modern scanners. I am certain many here would be happy to download your software, and then tell you every. little. thing. that is wrong with it.
And complain about lacking features even tho you do not charge for it :p

I tried lol…it was an undertaking that proved to be too big. I was able to fix a few bugs, but FreeSCAN is written in a language that is not very popular and one that I am not that experienced in. Additionally, the code was written in a pretty disorganized and hard to read way. It was very slow going and I didn’t have the time. I still have the code and installers hosted here for archival purposes:

Question: I've used Freescan (2.19-release) for a number of years, and other than its inability to fetch conventional freqs from RR, I'm mostly happy with it.
Recently, I d/l ProScan (19.7.0) & working on the '30-day trial'. While it has some 'bells & whistles' I like, I'm wondering if it's worth the $50 to purchase.
Thoughts?
And TIA.
I used Freescan for a few years, thinking nothing could be better. Then, When I activated DMR n' NXDN, I realized, I had to get a better program. I looked at Sentinel, and didn't like its' design. When I tried the 30-trial of Proscan, I was thinking, 'Why did I waste all my time searching. Proscan for eternity!!!'.

Search the forums for posts by me & keyword "Proscan" & you'll unearth many testimonials from me highly recommending Proscan, not going to repeat what I've mentioned in so many other threads (especially with no paid endorsement :ROFLMAO: ) but the key takeaways for advantages Proscan offers over Freescan are as follows (& not limited to)...
-Internet control & monitoring
-Greater favorites lists customizations
- The graphic user interface looks exactly like the scanner you're using!!!
-Ongoing support from the developer himself here on the forums & regular app updates (Freescan discontinued updates 8 years ago!!! & no support for BCD436HP, 536HP nor SDS100 or SDS200!!!!)

When my scanner is plugged into the computer, ProScan is on the other end 99.99% of the time. I only use Uniden's program to update the firmware and occasionally the database. It's been a while now, but I don't think I lasted more than 3 days into the 30 day trial period before I registered. I love that program.

Get Proscan.
So I’m using the BCD536HP but I’m using the Waukesha county database. I tried using sentinal because that is the only thing I can find that will work for that scanner, but they have not updated the frequencies in a very long time. Long story short will this work for that scanner and have updated frequencies for Waukesha

The Sentinel database is taken from the radio reference database and updated every week. If you aren't getting the recent update then you might be doing something wrong. Check to see if you have a "Force write the database" option in sentinel, it should be in the write/upload to scanner area.
Hopefully someone else will know what is going on.

Maybe I am doing it wrong. I’m going off of Waukesha County, but it’s still showing the old scanner frequency’s for Mukwonago PD and etc I’ll have to dig into this weekend more I’ll keep you posted

{edit} Can you post the link to the RRDB system so we can find it in Sentinel.

The database page for your county shows the old frequencies for the city, which they may have retained for backup. But as Bob has already noted, the link to the trunked system now used is listed above the old frequencies.

As noted, the database in Sentinel does include your city's talkgroups on the OASIS trunked system. If the database in your scanner, and in Sentinel on your PC does not include them, then you need to update the databases. When the scanner is shipped, or when Sentinel is first installed, the database in the scanner, and Sentinel as well, is well out of date, usually a couple of years if not more. Bring it up to date & you'll see the information pertaining to the trunked system being used.

Did you get this figured out? Mukwonago PD is NOT on OASIS, they are using a multicast system with two output frequencies. They are VHF P25.

Not sure if Freescan can do this this or not, but what I like about ProScan is how I can throw a bunch of comma delimited frequencies and their channel number and whatnot in Notepad++, right click and copy that data and immediately import into ProScan. I suppose Excel or LibreOffice's Calc could do the same thing.

I did just just that with all 40 CB channels and I set the modulation all to FM for my "Itinerant" system in my scanners. The scanners of course can monitor CB as a service search, but not in FM by default and I'd rather have the FM CB channels in my "Itinerant" system subdivided with the other groups of MURS, FRS, GMRS, Business and Marine.

I "remote in" with ZeroTier and use a local TeamSpeak server instance for voice... There are ZeroTier and TeamSpeak Android Apps... There's even an OpenVPN Android App in case you roll OpenVPN via third-party router firmware (Asus Merlin, DD-WRT, etc) for Intranet access via cellphone.

Anyway... LOL
